– Newbury Hackspace (NADHack) I have an Eiger Bat light. The mains charger is 6v 500 mil amps
The car charger is 12v unlimited amps?
I'm guessing that the voltage of the mains charger is dependent on the bat light battery resistance, hence a low starting voltage. In other words the battery has a variable resistance that could cause over heating and a possible fire if the mains charger was 12v as it may have a higher voltage at different levels in the charging cycle.
However the 12v (13.8v) car battery never goes over voltage in other words is naturally regulated.
Or the assumption is the car supply will only be on intermittently, for a short time. And/or that the light is never left unattended by nature of the fact that you will be in the car.
Whatever the reason, I don't understand the difference in the charger ratings and can't really think of a logical reason other than the ones I have guest at.
Your insights observations would be most appreciated.
